DON REASOR

All About The Artist

Thorington “Don” Reasor is a published artist who is known for the vibrant colors in his oil paintings. He recognized his talent for art at an early age and accepted it as his spiritual gift. Throughout the years Don has been recognized for bringing his memories and ideas to life on canvas. His artwork has been highlighted and showcased at various museums, galleries, and magazines.

Don was born in Birmingham, Alabama where his family supported and encouraged him to pursue training to continue to grow his skill. Don naturally had a gift for pencil and ink sketches but his love of art drove him to broaden his skillset. When he moved to Detroit, Michigan he became experienced in graphic design, screen printing, and oil paintings.  Oil paintings were his favorite style so he began to enhance his portfolio with this type of work.

When viewing Don’s paintings one will be provided with both enjoyment and information on past and historical events and cultures. For this reason he recognized his artwork as “Inspirational Paintings”. An example of this is his most famous piece of work, Paradise Valley, which illustrates a strip in Detroit from his point of view.

After becoming a published artist his artwork began to be circulated in various outlets. Décor Magazine, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Michigan Chronicle are just a few places where his art has been featured.

Not only was Don Reasor a great artist, he was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Those close to Don knew that he was always dedicated to perfecting his craft and he wanted others to reach their full potential. He was known for providing honest feedback and for knowing how to entertain any room.

Don Reasor passed away in 2015 but his legacy will forever live on through his artwork.
